Xeomin Injections in Agoura Hills
– What it is
What is Xeomin?
Xeomin is a prescription medicine in the botulinum toxin type A family, similar to Botox and Dysport. It’s injected into specific facial muscles to reduce their activity, which softens the appearance of dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive expression over time.
It’s sometimes considered “pure” botulinum toxin A, formulated without certain accessory proteins used in some other products, and clinical studies show comparable efficacy to Botox at equivalent doses.
- Frown lines (between the eyebrows)
- Forehead lines
- Crow's feet
- No accessory proteins
- Results in 3–7 days
- Lasts 3–4 months, up to 6
– How it compares
Xeomin vs. Botox
Multiple studies suggest Xeomin and Botox are similarly effective for smoothing upper facial wrinkles at appropriate doses. The main differences are formulation and, in some cases, how quickly results are noticed.
Formulation
Xeomin contains only botulinum toxin type A without additional complexing proteins, while Botox includes specific proteins in its composition. Some clinicians consider this a potential benefit for patients treated with other neuromodulators for many years, though evidence is still being studied.
Onset, duration & effectiveness
Xeomin results may begin within 3 to 5 days, full effect around 1 to 2 weeks, typically lasting 3 to 4 months, with some reports of up to 6 months. In head-to-head trials for frown lines, it was found just as effective as Botox over a 4-month period.
At AIVI Aesthetics, we offer Xeomin alongside other neuromodulators and help you choose the product and dosing strategy that best matches your facial anatomy, treatment history, and goals.
–Safety information
Possible side effects
All botulinum toxin products, including Xeomin, carry potential risks. Common side effects include injection-site pain or bruising, headache, dry mouth or eye, and temporary eyelid drooping.
- Serious but less common effects can include difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing, more generalized muscle weakness, or an allergic reaction (itching, rash, swelling, wheezing, dizziness).
- Xeomin isn’t appropriate for everyone, including those with certain neuromuscular conditions or a known sensitivity to any ingredient. We review your full medical history during your consultation to confirm it’s right for you.

– Common questions
Xeomin FAQs
Is Xeomin right for me if I've had Botox before?
For many patients, yes. Clinical studies show similar efficacy at equivalent doses, and Xeomin’s formulation without certain accessory proteins may be considered for long-term neuromodulator users. We review your past treatment history before recommending any switch.
Will I look "frozen"?
Our goal is a refreshed, rested look, not rigid or overdone. We use conservative, personalized dosing and adjust over time to keep your expressions natural while softening lines.
How often will I need Xeomin?
Most patients schedule maintenance every 3 to 4 months, though timing can vary based on dose, treatment area, metabolism, and preference. We reassess at each visit and adjust your plan.
Can Xeomin be combined with fillers or laser treatments?
Yes. Xeomin treats dynamic expression lines, while fillers, biostimulators, and lasers address volume loss, static lines, texture, and pigment. We frequently design combination plans to address multiple concerns in a safe, staged way.
