Are there any medications to avoid after PRP treatment?

Yes, it’s recommended to temporarily avoid certain medications after your PRP hair treatment. Here’s why:

  • Blood Thinners: Aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) increase the risk of bruising or bleeding. It’s generally best to avoid these for about a week before and after your treatment.
  • Topical Hair Loss Medications: Some topical hair loss treatments, like minoxidil (Rogaine), might need to be paused for a few days after PRP to avoid potential irritation.

Important:

  • Always Consult: Discuss all your current medications and supplements with your AIVI Aesthetics practitioner before your PRP treatment. They’ll advise you of any specific medications to avoid and for how long.
  • Prescriptions: If you are on any prescription blood thinners, do NOT stop taking them without first consulting your doctor. There may be alternatives or a safe way to temporarily adjust your dosing.
