What If I’m Not Happy With My PDO Thread Lift Results?

While most patients are pleased with the results of their PDO thread lift, it’s normal to have questions if your outcome isn’t exactly what you expected. The good news is that there are several options available to help improve your results. At AIVI Aesthetics, we work closely with every patient to ensure they achieve the most natural and satisfying outcome possible.

Be Patient—Results Continue to Improve #

One of the biggest misconceptions about PDO thread lifts is that the final results appear immediately. Although you’ll notice an instant lifting effect, the true benefits develop gradually as the threads stimulate your body’s natural collagen production. This process typically continues over the next 2 to 6 months, leading to firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin.

Schedule a Follow-Up With Your Provider #

If you’re concerned about your results, the first step is to schedule a follow-up appointment. Your AIVI Aesthetics provider will evaluate your healing, discuss your concerns, and determine whether any adjustments would improve your outcome.

Options to Enhance Your Results #

Depending on your goals, your provider may recommend:

  • Additional PDO threads to improve lifting or support in specific areas.
  • Dermal Fillers to restore lost facial volume and enhance facial contours.
  • Sculptra to stimulate long-term collagen production for gradual rejuvenation.
  • SkinPen Microneedling or Tetra Pro CO2 Laser to improve skin texture, fine lines, and overall skin quality.

These combination treatments often produce more comprehensive and longer-lasting facial rejuvenation than a PDO thread lift alone.

Can PDO Threads Be Removed? #

Unlike dermal fillers, PDO threads are not typically dissolved or removed. The threads naturally break down over several months and are safely absorbed by the body. In rare situations where a thread becomes visible, palpable, or causes an issue, your provider may be able to trim or remove a portion of the thread. Fortunately, these situations are uncommon when the procedure is performed by an experienced injector.

Have Realistic Expectations #

A PDO thread lift offers noticeable lifting and collagen stimulation, but it is not a replacement for a surgical facelift. The treatment is best suited for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity who want natural-looking rejuvenation with minimal downtime.

At AIVI Aesthetics, we’ll help you determine the best approach to achieve your goals and recommend additional treatments when appropriate to maximize your results.
