Does medical insurance usually cover Botox treatment?

Medical insurance typically only covers Botox when used for FDA-approved medical conditions, such as:

  • Chronic Migraine Prevention
  • Overactive Bladder
  • Muscle Spasms (i.e., blepharospasm, cervical dystonia)
  • Excessive Sweating (hyperhidrosis)

Cosmetic Botox is generally not covered by insurance, it’s considered an elective procedure. Your insurance provider will have specific details about your plan and coverage.
