When people refer to Botox, they’re often using it as a general term for wrinkle-relaxing injections. However, there are several different types of Botox (neuromodulators) approved by the FDA for cosmetic and medical use. While each works by temporarily relaxing targeted facial muscles, there are subtle differences that may influence which product is best for your aesthetic goals.
At AIVI Aesthetics in Agoura Hills, CA, we offer personalized treatment plans and will recommend the neuromodulator that best fits your facial anatomy, lifestyle, and desired results.
Botox® (OnabotulinumtoxinA) #
Botox is the original and most recognized neuromodulator. It has decades of clinical research supporting its safety and effectiveness for treating forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, and preventing deeper wrinkles from developing.
Dysport® (AbobotulinumtoxinA) #
Dysport has a slightly different formulation and may begin working a little faster for some patients. It also tends to spread more after injection, making it a popular option for treating larger areas like the forehead while still achieving soft, natural-looking results.
Daxxify® (DaxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) #
Daxxify is the newest FDA-approved neuromodulator and is formulated with a unique peptide instead of human serum albumin. One of its biggest advantages is its potential for longer-lasting results. While most neuromodulators last approximately three to four months, some Daxxify patients may enjoy results lasting up to six months, depending on individual metabolism and treatment area.
Xeomin® (IncobotulinumtoxinA) #
Often referred to as the “naked” neurotoxin, Xeomin contains only the active ingredient without accessory proteins. Although resistance to neuromodulators is uncommon, some providers prefer Xeomin for patients who receive treatments regularly.
Jeuveau® (PrabotulinumtoxinA) #
Jeuveau was developed specifically for aesthetic use and delivers results comparable to Botox for smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles. Many patients appreciate its reliable performance and competitive pricing.
Although these products have slight differences in formulation, onset, diffusion, and longevity, they all work by relaxing the muscles responsible for expression lines. The best choice depends on your treatment goals, facial anatomy, muscle strength, and desired duration of results.
At AIVI Aesthetics, our experienced injectors will discuss your concerns and recommend the neuromodulator that helps you achieve refreshed, natural-looking results while preserving your facial expressions.
